Firefox extensions

I've standardized on these Firefox extensions for v2.0:

Adblock Plus
Removes those annoying ads
Download Statusbar
The standard download manager for Firefox is terrible. This is how they should have done it.
Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer
I run Firefox on lots of different computers - my Windows box at work, my Linux box at work, the desktop at home and the laptop. This extension keeps my bookmarks synched across all of them.
IE Tab
Loads selected sites/pages into an tab with embedded IE. Perfect for those ActiveX-based corporate sites that require IE.
Tab Preview
Shows a preview of background tabs during mouse-over
Tabbrowser Preferences
This lets me customize tab control just the way I like it.
Tiny Menu
TM lets me save put all the menus, search bar, and bookmarks on a single toolbar, saving valuable vertical space for the main browser window
TinyUrl Creator
Adds a tiny url creator item to the context menu - very handy when you want to e-mail a link to a page with a long URL
Web Developer
Ideal for developing CSS and other web development tasks

Visit to the skin doctor

A few years ago someone in my family noticed a small freckle on my right temple was getting larger. In the last few months, both Carole and my sister have told me I should have it checked.

After my dental cleaning with Dr. Crabtree at 8:00am, I went across the hall to see Dr. Voron. His staff is very friendly, and the nice woman at the front desk was especially friendly while taking my history. Dr. Voron himself is very experienced, friendly, and very professional.

After looking at my freckle-thing, he decided it needed to be removed. His assistant (also exceedingly nice) came in with a specimen cart, and he had me lay down on my left side on the exam table. He injected some anesthetic around the freckle, did some cutting, and put it into a specimen bottle for normal testing. The whole process took a couple of minutes, and other than some slight sting for the anesthetic was quite painless.

I'll definitely recommend Dr. Voron to Carole.

Apheresis - November 21

I watched almost all of Prime during a 5:30pm donation this evening. I continue to have minor problems using the new single-needle machine. The nurse had to strip the draw line four or five times - using a rubberized clamp to pull the hose to lower the pressure on the line. I also got hot bean bags on my insertion area and both shoulders. Weird.

Geosense

The kids and I have been playing on the Geosense site. It has a great game — both solo and against others — where the name of a world city (and its country) is displayed, and you have to quickly click on its location on a world map. The faster and closer you click, the higher your score. You play rounds of ten cities, and each city is worth at most 820 points, give or take, if you click it right on within one second.

It took me a lot of tries to beat 7000 for a set of ten, but I finally did it tonight (10/15) — twice. My current high score is 7321, with an average click time of 1.1 seconds, and an average location error of 106.3 km.

Apheresis - November 3

I watched most of Serenity during this morning's donation. I was back on the new machine type that gave me problems last time. I had more problems at the beginning, but they finally adjusted my arm and the needle to make it work.

5W

Just after my blood donation, I saw my first 5W license plate on a silver Touareg, going north on Sierra Madre Blvd. Then, I saw another 5W on a black Lexus SUV on the 210. Amazing.
