Apheresis - November 10
I got nearly to the end of Serenity today.
Apheresis - October 27
Road to Perdition again.
Apheresis - October 13
I watched Vanity Fair again, and still got only about 2/3 of the way through it.
Apheresis - September 29
I made it through most of The Bank Job this afternoon. Andrew did a great job - I hardly felt a thing.
Apheresis - September 19
I got most of the way through Atonement this morning, after dropping Carole off at BUR for her trip to see Cindy in Spokane.
Apheresis - August 29
I got to watch about half of The Assassination of Jesse James... during this morning's session. A little slow, but the acting was top notch.
Apheresis - August 18
I finished Becoming Jane this afternoon. They asked me to do a double-needle session to help calibrate a particular machine, and I agreed with some reluctance. They said it needed a double-needle, triple batch session, and I was the only reasonable candidate. I had forgotten how much I don't like double-needle - not only the two needle insertions and the unscratched itches, but having both arms wrapped up for hours afterwards.
Apheresis - June 13
I watched 27 Dresses during my directed donation today.
Apheresis - May 23
I watched Michael Clayton this morning. A very good movie.
Apheresis - May 12
Things went very quickly, even for a triple batch, so I only got to watch half of Becoming Jane.
Apheresis - February 29
I watched Road to Perdition this morning. A pleasant way to spend a morning.
Apheresis - February 15
I watched Ocean's Thirteen this morning. After a wonderful Valtentine's Day, I didn't get to sleep until about 1:45am, with a 6:15am alarm. Of course, Buddy decided he had to bark at some raccoon or something, which woke us up two or three times. I finally had to do something mean to get him to come inside — I went out with his retractable leash, which enticed him enough to come up on the back porch. From there, I man-handled him into the back bathroom — which of course woke me up even more.
Apheresis - February 1
I watched Batman Begins this morning, doing only a double batch for some reason. Christian Bale can act, and any movie with Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman must be okay. I even managed to overcome my Katie Holmes is a zombie feelings. All in all, not bad.
Apheresis - January 18
This was my first time back since 11/30/2007. The infection at the needle point from my 11/2 donation is getting better, but that vein still can't be used for donations - and it may be permanent.
I watched Transformers this morning. A cool popcorn movie.
Apheresis - November 16
I watched Music & Lyrics, again.
Apheresis - November 2
I watched Shaun of the Dead this morning. I laughed out loud three or four times. Nicole was great, as usual.
Sometimes it's good to be a man...
This article says previously pregnant women should not donate platelets. This may cut the donor population by 25%.

Apheresis - October 19
I watched Shooter with Mark Wahlburg this morning. For a straight action movie, it worked pretty well.
Apheresis - October 5
I watched Ronin this morning - the new Collector's Edition DVD that Jeremy got for me. DeNiro and Reno, great car chases and shoot-outs, and a plot that holds together. Michael Lonsdale is great as the enigmatic Jean-Pierre.
Rebecca gave me a plague for my 150th donation, back in August.
Apheresis - September 21
I watched The Guardian this morning. The ending was a little overly dramatic, but it was a solid action movie throughout.
Apheresis - September 7
I watched Catch Me If You Can this morning. It's wearing well.
Apheresis - August 24
I watched Bull Durham this morning.
Apheresis - August 10
I watched The Holiday. It was fun.
Apheresis - July 13
I watched Serenity all the way through during a 118 minute triple draw this morning. More staffing problems forced me to wait 35 minutes before answering the screening questions.
Apheresis - July 6
I watched Lord of War this morning. When I first picked it up, I thought I hadn't seen it before, but once it started I remembered it. They were overbooked and understaffed, and they took a triple, so even though I arrived at 6:35, I didn't get out of there until 9:40.
Apheresis - June 22
I watched Music and Lyrics this morning. Light and breezy.
Apheresis - June 22
I watched Music and Lyrics this morning. Light and breezy.
Apheresis - June 22
I watched Music and Lyrics this morning. Light and breezy.
Apheresis - May 18
I watched Stranger than Fiction this morning. I'd seen it with Carole in a theater when it first came out. A second viewing made me realize that it's a really good movie.

Apheresis - April 20
I watched almost all of The Good Shepherd this morning, but left before the very end, so I'll have to finish it later.
I had a lot of discomfort when the needle was first inserted, and again when it was pulled out. I'm not sure why. The rest of the process went smoothly, but took longer than usual.
Apheresis - April 6
I watched the first episode of the British mini-series MI-5, known as Spooks in the UK. Kind of 24-ish, it stars Matthew Macfadyen, who played Darcy in the recent film Pride and Prejudice.
Apheresis - March 23
I watched A Good Year this morning. A little schmaltzy, and tad predictable, but I stayed the extra five minutes I needed to finish it, which says something.
Apheresis - March 9
I watched the first episode and part of a second of the mini-series Napoleon this morning. It's got the same air and production values as the Count of Monte Cristo mini-series, but is in English, which makes a big difference. Still, pretty enjoyable, although some of the acting is below par (particularly Claudio Amendola as Murat. His long acting career hints that it might be a language problem in this case). John Malkovich is just right as the understated Talleyrand.
Apheresis - February 9
I watched March of the Penguins this morning, but dozed off a few times - not because of the movie, which was great, but because I felt really tired.
Apheresis - January 26
I watched all of Brick again this morning. The last two times they had me on the west-side machines, which take a little longer but can extract a full triple batch. Brick was great, again.
Apheresis - January 12
I watched Master and Commander this morning. They were just boarding the Acheron at the end when I finished.
Apheresis - December 29
I watched most of The Pacifier this morning. So-so, but a good way to pass the time.
Apheresis - December 15
I finished up Inside Man today. Terri used the inside vein on my right arm, and it was wonderful. They took a triple batch today, too. A good session all around.
Apheresis - December 1
I watched Inside Man this morning. Terri used the inside vein on my right arm, and it worked much better than the earlier tries with the middle vein on my left arm.
Apheresis - November 21
I watched almost all of Prime during a 5:30pm donation this evening. I continue to have minor problems using the new single-needle machine. The nurse had to strip the draw line four or five times - using a rubberized clamp to pull the hose to lower the pressure on the line. I also got hot bean bags on my insertion area and both shoulders. Weird.
