redcross.gif I made it through most of The Bank Job this afternoon. Andrew did a great job - I hardly felt a thing.

redcross.gif I got most of the way through Atonement this morning, after dropping Carole off at BUR for her trip to see Cindy in Spokane.

redcross.gif I got to watch about half of The Assassination of Jesse James... during this morning's session. A little slow, but the acting was top notch.

Apheresis - August 18

redcross.gif I finished Becoming Jane this afternoon. They asked me to do a double-needle session to help calibrate a particular machine, and I agreed with some reluctance. They said it needed a double-needle, triple batch session, and I was the only reasonable candidate. I had forgotten how much I don't like double-needle - not only the two needle insertions and the unscratched itches, but having both arms wrapped up for hours afterwards.

redcross.gif I watched Ocean's Thirteen this morning. After a wonderful Valtentine's Day, I didn't get to sleep until about 1:45am, with a 6:15am alarm. Of course, Buddy decided he had to bark at some raccoon or something, which woke us up two or three times. I finally had to do something mean to get him to come inside — I went out with his retractable leash, which enticed him enough to come up on the back porch. From there, I man-handled him into the back bathroom — which of course woke me up even more.

redcross.gif I watched Batman Begins this morning, doing only a double batch for some reason. Christian Bale can act, and any movie with Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman must be okay. I even managed to overcome my Katie Holmes is a zombie feelings. All in all, not bad.

redcross.gif This was my first time back since 11/30/2007. The infection at the needle point from my 11/2 donation is getting better, but that vein still can't be used for donations - and it may be permanent.

I watched Transformers this morning. A cool popcorn movie.

redcross.gif I watched Ronin this morning - the new Collector's Edition DVD that Jeremy got for me. DeNiro and Reno, great car chases and shoot-outs, and a plot that holds together. Michael Lonsdale is great as the enigmatic Jean-Pierre.

Rebecca gave me a plague for my 150th donation, back in August.

redcross.gif I watched Lord of War this morning. When I first picked it up, I thought I hadn't seen it before, but once it started I remembered it. They were overbooked and understaffed, and they took a triple, so even though I arrived at 6:35, I didn't get out of there until 9:40.

redcross.gif I watched almost all of The Good Shepherd this morning, but left before the very end, so I'll have to finish it later.

I had a lot of discomfort when the needle was first inserted, and again when it was pulled out. I'm not sure why. The rest of the process went smoothly, but took longer than usual.

redcross.gif I watched the first episode of the British mini-series MI-5, known as Spooks in the UK. Kind of 24-ish, it stars Matthew Macfadyen, who played Darcy in the recent film Pride and Prejudice.

redcross.gif I watched the first episode and part of a second of the mini-series Napoleon this morning. It's got the same air and production values as the Count of Monte Cristo mini-series, but is in English, which makes a big difference. Still, pretty enjoyable, although some of the acting is below par (particularly Claudio Amendola as Murat. His long acting career hints that it might be a language problem in this case). John Malkovich is just right as the understated Talleyrand.

redcross.gif I watched almost all of Prime during a 5:30pm donation this evening. I continue to have minor problems using the new single-needle machine. The nurse had to strip the draw line four or five times - using a rubberized clamp to pull the hose to lower the pressure on the line. I also got hot bean bags on my insertion area and both shoulders. Weird.
